    I have to say that in 30 years of nursing i never ran across a doctor who was a "major douche". That's my personal experience and I'm sure there could be a few out there, but it is certainly not the norm and not a reason you should not think about being a medical assistant. Medical assistants (nursing assistants) etc, work very hard and are a nurse's right hand in the hospital. Can you stomach blood, urine, vomit, other body fluids? That's what you need to ask yourself if you are thinking about a career as a medical assistant. As a medical assistant you could possibly work in an office rather than a hospital and have less exposure to what some might call the "gross" side of nursing. You could also consider becoming an ultrasound tech (google it), a vet tech (if you like animals), or a dental assistant (doesn't require as much schooling as a dental hygienist) . Good luck.

Look into medical tech schools for xray tech and medical assistants. Takes less time and you get schooled in one aspect of medical technology. Don't expect top pay for these jobs, education is the key to getting great jobs and you seem to want to do as little as possible. Dental hygenist is also taught in some tech schools.

I think any of them would be a good career and suggest you ask around and see if you can check out an office or two where people do those jobs to see what the work place it like and ask the people doing them what they like and dislike about their jobs for example an optician may let you shadow him at work for an afternoon and see what the actual job is like , sometimes all it takes is to ask at a few shops to find one willing to help you out

Optician, hands down. Around $50k is pretty good. You are exposed to x-rays with the Radiologist Tech. You're handling infectious materials with the sterile processing tech. With medical assisting you deal with a lot of doctors, who are known to be major douches.
