Will I perform as well in homeschool as in a good public school?

Not exactly homeschool. It's called Connections Academy, and it is an online school through the school district of Houston. Right now I attend a high performing public school, but ...show more

Answer:
If you're having stress breakdowns in high school, that's what you need to address. College, medical school, being a dr--all will be harder and more stressful than high school. Think about what your problems are and work on addressing them. Switching out of your school might be part of your plan, but finding a way to address your perfectionism is the main thing. Get the contact info for Connections Academy and see if they would prepare you for the college you want to get into. (It's college that prepares you for medical school.) Also, consider volunteering at a hospital so you can get exposed to that work environment and start building up application credits. Also ... do you know what's causing you stress? Is there a big problem in your life that you're avoiding or not acknowledging? If so, try confronting it directly. Good luck. I know it's hard. If you're in a very competitive environment, that can make things a lot more stressful ... but the road you're thinking of is also very competitive. I knew someone in graduate school (she was in computer science at a good school) who used to cry over her homework assignments. She was 24 yrs old. You don't want to be her, a few yrs down the road.

Maybe. I know that children who are home schooled from an early age tend to be smarter and start college earlier.

Some people excel in actual school but some also excel and enjoy homeschool or online education. You may try to see it for yourself.

We can't really tell you where you'd perform better. If you're a perfectionist, you might still have that issue in connections academy. It's the public school classes, only online. For medical school, you really need to worry about getting into a good college. Then once you're in college, you need to put that perfectionist streak to work. You'll need nearly a 4.0 as an undergrad. Then you apply to med school, after college. So, any high school, including homeschool could give you the education you need to attend medical school, as long as it prepares you for a top 4 year university and you do well there.

Since you already have a good school work ethic, I think you will excel in online school. This may be just what you need so you can concentrate on your studies, instead of the typical high school drama. You won't find all that drama in college, so don't worry about that.
