Why are older consoles more durable than newer ones?

Do you prefer the old consoles or the newer ones? Example: The play station 2 or 3?

    The new. There were a lot of games I liked on the PS3 & Xbox 360. I didn't get into the PS2 as much but I still have a few favourite games from back then.

I still play my ps1 and I love it :) mainly because the ps1 games ( although their graphics were poor) had great story line and were the most enjoyable to play, I love the first ever spyro and harry potter games <3 ps2 was also epic and the new consoles are good but the revamped versions of the original games have kinda lost their charm and can be really suckish to play I'm looking at you skylanders -_- Evie x
