What's the difference between a passport card and a passport book?

  • I need to get a passport. What's the difference between these two? And which one do I want?

If you are traveling by plane outside of the United States you need a passport. If you are traveling by boat or car to Canada, Mexico, and some of the Caribbean you can use a passport card. But you can't use the card to fly
