Either would take at least 575-600 hours of class, or at least 23-24 weeks. That's 4 times as much work as Esperanto. Says US Foreign Service Institute Would just taking it at school be enough? No, probably not. I recommend you watch movies/TV with good subtitles in English, read books with the help of a good dictionary (NOT google translate), listening to spoken radio/books and maybe hang out with native/fluent speakers

If you are not French or Canadian French, or if your native language is not French, you will always have a little accent, or you will make small mistake, except if you live in a French speaking country for a long period of time. To become fluent, I would say about 1 year and a half.

Of course you should expose yourself more to Spanish. Try watching Pedro Almodovar´s films. They´re quite good. As for French, it is as hard to learn as it is Spanish. However, it is totally worth it. Four year seems reasonable to me.
