On Whatsapp, I can't see the contact's online status but when I sent the message there are two ticks. Can anyone tell me why?

Okay, this is what whatsapp ticks mean: Clock sign: The message is being uploaded to server or searching for a network to get uploaded to server. This is the time to delete a message as it hasn't really left the phone and you can stop it from sending. One tick: The message has been sent to server, and there is nothing you can do about it. It will reach the intended person as soon his Whatsapp is connected to the internet. Two Ticks: The message has reached the other person's phone because it was connected to the internet that instance. It doesn't mean that the other person has read it or not. It only shows that yes the other persn might have got the notification that he/she has a whatsapp message from you. How to know if the person has seen your message or not? Look for this "last seen ..." below the name. If the time specified is later than the time at which the message you sent got a double tick , remember double tick, then that person has seen the message.
