What is the difference in salary for a Physician Assistant and a Nurse Practitioner?

Nurse practitioner or physician assistant? which is better.. flexibility, stress-level, salary, schooling, and?

  • The salaries are quite similar, but I'm looking for which one is best for flexibility in hours, stress-level, independence, schooling, and environment wise?

  • Answer:

It depends on the setting, in family practice, they do the same thing. Nurse practitioners are however most commonly found in and trained for Family Practice. To become a Nurse Practitioner you must first complete a bachelors in Nursing and then apply to a program. To become a PA many programs require a bachelors degree in anything as long as you meet the basic pre-requisite requirements (bio, anat an phys, chemistry etc.). aapa.org is the website for the American Association of Physician Assistants, great resource, also physicinassistantforum.com is a great resource for PA information
