Hi Moninicole. I have lived with kidney stones for 25+ years (I have two right now, one on each side, and I am waiting for them to pass). I have had many tests over the years and never have they seen the stones in me (xrays, IVPs - pyelograms, cystoscopy with retrograde pyelogram and CT). Only after I passed and 'caught' the stone each time was it clear that I did have a stone. The symptoms you describe I know very, very well and they are classic for kidney stones. The challenge is what to do for your husband. Lithotripsy is not an option if they cannot 'see' the location of the stone. The urologist can 'go searching' for the stone by inserting tools through the urethra of the penis and looking up into the urogenital system. I had this done once, he didn't find the stone, and the brutally painful blood clots that I passed three days later keep me from considering it again. Four times (within hours) I have passed a stone after a very good chiropractic adjustment. This would be one approach worth considering. Talk to your family Chiropractor. Lots of fluids, obviously, may help 'move' the stone along. But often they don't really help. Lastly, physical activity (running, bouncing, etc.) has sometimes helped me 'move a stone along'. I wish I could offer a 'sure cure' for your husband. My best suggestion is Chiropractic. Best wishes and good luck!

It could very well be kidney stones. My daughter has them and they have never showed up on any scans or xrays, but we have the stones as proof! She has passed quite a few, one the size of a pea! Have your husband strain his urine to catch any stones that he may pass, that way you will know for sure. Have him drink more milk and eat more dairy, contrary to what you may have heard this actually helps, and plenty of water.

Okay 1. Get a new doc. 2. Has he logged when the pain happens? After a meal, at bed time, after exersising. Fatty foods can upset gall bladder stones (i had mine removed) Start doing a log of when, how long, and location of the pain. So next time he goes to the doc, you has more info to give the doc, hopefully a new one. Good luck
