Looking for a DVD Player?

I'm looking to buy a DVD/VCR player that says "can tape from DVD to VCR. Can I transfer home movies to DVD?

    No, you need to make sure that you buy a DVD recorder with a VCR built in or you can buy a DVD recorder separately and plug the output of your VCR into the input or you DVD recorder. The quality might not be the greatest from VHS to DVD but it will still work. Some of the newer DVD recorders can be kind of hard to operate. If you only get a VCR and DVD combo machine then you can only play DVD's but not record them. But with this you can copy DVD's to VHS tapes. Hope this answer helps, Dustin

Answer to first question, No if the machine says can tape from DVD to VCR then it most likely will not do the opposite. I am not sure Costco has DVD recorders but they have a great return policy! but here's a tip go check out this website first, there are lots of comparisons of dvd recorders posted there. http://www.dvd-recorder-review.com/ good luck

You need to buy a dvd recorder of some type. You can get a dvd/vcr combo but it will need to record from vcr to dvd. or you can get a dvd recorder and plug your vcr into one of the inputs to make a dvd. To answer your questions 1) No you cant use this machine to tape your movies. 2) It would preserve them if this machine could record dvd's.

I have the Toshiba model from Costco with the DVD/VCR combo feature. The manual says that copying from DVD is supported, but there isn't anything about recording to DV-R. I have made homemade DVDs by importing an analog video signal into my comp, and writing to DV-R using Windows Movie Maker (free download, XP required) and some video capture hardware. This might be all you need.
