Is population control a valid method to slow global warming?

Milankovitch Cycles bring on cooling Drought, severe longer winters and that in turn disrupt food, transportation and eventually drops the population.

The thing is, while slowing or stopping population growth can, and probably should, be *part* of the solution (there are only so many people that this planet can support, and the fewer people there are, the more resources there are per person), it is obviously not the only solution, and not even the best solution. Even if we achieved absolutely zero population growth today, the people already here are enough to cause problematic global warming. Far better to use zero-emissions energy sources.
