Wanting to take a course in Medical Transcription. I need some advice.?

  Instead of believing all the ads put out by "colleges" offering expensive certificates, you need to take a few days and look at what JOB opportunities are actually out there and what they qualifications are. Medical Transcription is a hard field to enter right now. There are so many voice recognition programs that doctors are using that your average fresh out of school transcriptionist may have problems finding a job. Some hospitals and clinics are using scribes, someone who goes into the patient room with the doc and records everything he does, but that is obviously not a work from home job. In short, take a look around and see if there's even a market for transcriptionists near you. If there is, shop around and don't pay $2000 for something that you could do for $300 at a community college.
