  This was my exact dilema when I was 18 and applying to university, I always thought I wanted to be a teacher and then we went on a school visit to a University to learn about different courses and then I became interested in nursing. Here were my thoughts; I went on work experience, really enjoyed year 6 pupils (age10) but the younger kids I didn't really like teaching, I also decided that I wanted to leave work and have my time to myself wheras in teaching you have marking and lesson planning to do. In the end I realised taching wasn't for me, I don't mind working shifts, I prefer it to the 8.30-4.30 monday to friday hours, I now work 3 days a week 12 hours a day and that is still full time. However two of my close friends are teachers and they love it, they don't like having to spend their free time doing extra things but they love kids and working with kids they like not having to work shifts. I would reccomend that you do some work experience in both areas (however with nursing you'll mostly be watching for work experience, I never got to DO anything for insurance reasons) but it might give you a good idea of what you'd prefewr. Nursing is a great career there are so many different things you can do, you could even be a school nurse, really when you look into nursing there are endless oppertunities and different job types, i'd really recommend it, but you've got to figure out what youd enjoy more and what kind of lifestyle youd prefer, good luck!
