Pilot or Train driver....Is there a future for aircraft pilots?

    That is a profound question. But first let me point out that Train Engineer and Pilot are two completely different types of jobs. A train engineer is a skilled heavy equipment operator who relies on set procedures while a pilot is a professional relying addtionally on related professional theory (such as aerodynamics and meteorlogy) to help make decisions. In other words, he/she is given more flexibility in carrying out his/her job. I don't think fossil fuel limitations will stand in the way of air transport. Air transport is the fastest way from Point A to Point B and, I'm sure, will investigate alternative fuels to remain profitable if that becomes necessary.

Trust me. No one who is alive today will ever see the end of fossil fuel. There are many many other place (even in the US) where we can go and drill for oil.
