Can I fit 31 inch tires on a stock 1998 ford ranger XLT 2wd?

    31" wheels? Not unless you want to ruin your truck! You mean 21"? 31's will will be WAY too tall. They will never clear. Even if they did, you'll trash the wheel bearings, the transmission and probably the engine. Your speedometer won't read correctly, and they will look terrible!

The largest that will fit a stock Ranger, 2wd or 4wd, is about 29". If you cut your fenders, however, you could fit a 31x10.50-15.

A stock 2wd Ranger will not be able to fit 31" tires and I don't understand why you want to put 4x4 tires on a 2wd. 2wd trucks should be lowered not lifted. They certainly aren't offroad capable so it doesn't make a whole lot of sense. If it were 4wd then you would have the clearance for 31" tires but they would rub when turning the steering wheel hard to the left or right.
