Lawyer Starting Salaries?
-
I hear that some starting lawyers can make up to 160 thousand a year right out of school?!?
-
Answer:
The average law school grad earns $60,000 and has $100,000 in debt. Yes, the top students from the top schools will earn that much (or more - a top London firm is paying $250,000 this year before bonuses) as first year associates, but the vast majority of graduates won't. Most mid to lower-level students from the middle to lower-tiered schools won't earn $160,000 a year ever. Law is not a profession to go into expecting to make a lot of money - most lawyers don't and it's way too stressful unless you really love the work.
