  Clinical lab techinician has a higher pay and more challenging. You work more independently. Medical assistant is an assistant...assisting someone else. Therefore, you don't have much control on what to do next--people tell you what to do next and expect you to assist them all the time. There's not much room to grow (unless you are planning to become a office manager) and pay is not as high. Depends on what you prefer. They are both good jobs. :)
