How do you become a physician assistant?

How long would it take to become a Pediatric Surgical Physician Assistant?

  • How many years do I have to go to school for? Do I have to do any fellowships or residencies to become a surgical PA specializing in pediatrics?

  • Answer:

My friend is a PA in orthopedic surgery and she had to get a BS in a science (she did Biochemistry) and then do a PA master's program which was 2 years at a medical school. You can probably get into a program without a biology-related degree if you spend more time in the graduate program catching up on prerequisites. I don't believe she had to do any kind of residency; she just graduated, then rented a room from my while starting her job at a University medical center and looking for her own place.
