Is cna hard online and when should i start?

I start my first CNA job at a nursing home next week. Any advice or techniques i should know?

  • So my first day won't be so hectic and bad. Oh yea I should mention this is my first official job and I'm 18

  • Answer:

I'd say just take it slow, nobody expects you to get everything perfect the first day. Don't let anybody rush you, pay attention to what you are doing. Ask the other staff for advice, tips, and tricks that they use but be sure that that advice is correct under the facility's and the states rules. Don't be discouraged if getting Blood Pressure is still tricky, just practice (even on the other aides) in your down time and have someone check your results. Don't be afraid to ask questions MULTIPLE TIMES you'd rather get it right than put someone in danger. It takes a while to learn all your patients preferences from how they like their food to who likes getting up first in the morning, you'll get it eventually so don't feel bad if someone gets a nasty attitude with you. Everyone assumes older people are sweet little grandmas or helpless and stupid but they are just like anyone, if they were sassy in their younger days they're probably still sassy today lol. Lastly, treat all your patients/residents with respect don't talk down to them or use baby talk, most of them still have their wits about them and can understand you just fine even if they are handicapped, disfigured, mute, etc. Good luck
