  • With my resume / Job application for work as a waitress. I am afraid the people looking at my resume or application will TOSS IT IN THE TRASH and I'll never get a job seriously, ...show more

  • Answer:

well unless you are in l.a. where all waitresses are wanna be actresses who need the jobs desperately then no. no cover letter. fill out the application, do not go into detail about it being family. in reason you left just put "seasonal job" or "will discuss". if you add a resume it looks professional but is not necessary, especially not if you are in a rural area. it also helps on mall jobs where most people don't completely fill out the application. just take your time and fill out the application, if you must skip something just make sure to put not applicable or n/a in the space. unless you are applying for management trainee, assistant manager or management usually a resume isn't necessary unless you are up against a lot of competition in which the resume helps you stand out if put together well.

Absolutely have a cover letter...just keep it short and sweet..potential employers only look at applications for a few sconds before they decide who to interview. Hope this helps!
