What is the difference between a LPN and a RN?

What is the difference in completing a LPN to Rn program vs LPN to BS program?

  • I am a LPN ready start an online program.

  • Answer:

Usually the LPN to RN program is an Associate's Degree program to make you eligible for RN licensure, about a year in length. The LPN to BSN programs are about 2-3 years in length, and you earn the full BSN instead of a just an Assoc. Degree, and you take the same NCLEX exam to become an RN. You're better off getting the full BSN, but you can do it stepwise. You could do the LPN to ADN RN, then do an ADN-RN to BSN completion program, which is about another 2 years.
