I am interested in how many people with mental health problems had problems in the womb or at birth?

I was delivered as an emergency C-section after the placenta burst. I am 22 years old and have bipolar disorder with psychotic features. I have been cycling all my life. However my father also has bipolar disorder so it's far more likely that it's inherited from him rather than having to do with my birthing issues! :)
I have depression and anxiety ... I was breech and a vaginal birth was attempted (as was somewhat common at the time) --- it failed and I was an emergency c-section. I've never considered my birth to be the cause for my depression/anxiety as many of my family members have it. But, it certainly is an interesting notion.
Whiskey Tango Foxtrot?
Hi, I was a very quick delivery (10 mins from first contraction to birth) and was born almost 5 weeks early, and needed to spend 1 week in NICU. I had jaundice that needed treating that was all. I now have Health anxiety, panic disorder, and I have postnatal depression. Even though I REALLY wanted this baby, had a brilliant pregnancy, and love her to bits. Don't know if that means anything. My Mum always asked me a ton of questions if I complained I was ill, because she was scared it could be serious (my brother almost died of meningitis at 11 months old) I think it's to do with the way my Mum acted. Good luck with your research. That sounds very interesting.
