i fish in my lake all the time and catch bass mostly, sometimes sunnys, perch, and crappies. there might even be some catfish or trout but i never caught one. when i go late at night ...show more

I agree with Paul Z. Try a top water lure that makes some noise. A popper or jitterbug are both good all-purpose top water lures. sometimes fish just jump and break the surface and aren't eating. If i were you though i would try fly fishing or small poppers. if you don't want to buy a fly rod on a maybe i would try buying a few flies at like walmart or something. then tie the fly onto your line and cast it with a bobber about 2 ft up the line. This way you can cast the fly but the bobber won't scare the fish. If this works you might try getting a fly rod.

not an expert, but i go out w/my hubby on occasion for the beer and company. he uses a treble hook to catch catfish at night w/chicken livers or stinkbait. stinkbait can be purchased at most baitshops. it's nasty, but they love it for some reason.
