What is the best way to paint a boat and what paint should i buy?

actually, it is probably not a good idea to paint your boat if it is fiberglass like most boats. I would recomend gettting some good wax or buffing compound and a buffer, or even better, buff your boat by hand, which is a much better job. My summertime "profession" is waxing and washing boats. I would recomend the Yacht Brite Line of products from Shurhold industries. (pro polish wax or buffing compund) But the bottom line is you should wax your boat, not paint. But if you mean bottompaint, go ahead. Interlux is a good brand of bottom paint. I recomend bottom painting if you keep your boat in the water all summer. I hope is answered your question.

At the west marine stores there is a very informative brochure from Interlux on their different paint products and what chemicals, undercoats and paint choices are available. (its free) If you have a fiberglass boat the first step is to wash your boat and then use a fiberglass cleaner to remove any wax from the surface. Then follow the directions for surface prep for the paint your using. One part or two part polyurethane paint works well and comes in many bright colors. We have had good results when two people paint at the same time with one using a foam roller and the second person following the first with a high quality brush to even out the paint. good luck

im assuming you don't have Access to spray booth so first sand boat with at least 400 paper first contact local marine sales and purchase.a good quallity paint.be shure to follow directions to the letter.borrow a garage or rent one for their is allot of new EPA laws.Out of sight out of mind.
