There are fewer and fewer high paying golf jobs in todays corporate owned society. I am a PGA member and have been a Head golf professional at several clubs. You have the ability to make a decent living, depending on the club and how much teaching you do. Although most Head professionals and general managers make good money, the road to those positions is very poor. There are thousands and thousands of people who want to be in the golf business, but end up getting out after several years as an assistant, making very little money. I am not trying to deter you from getting in the golf business, but I want you to be aware that it is not as glamorous as one would think. If you are serious, look into some of the universities that offer a PGM program. Good luck

It takes a while(several years) to get into the high-paying gigs in golf. I've been there. I was a PGA apprentice back in the 90's. I spent a while looking for my shot at a Head Pro job. It never came. And all the while I was working 60 hours a week in a pro shop trying to sell $60 shirts and $400 drivers. Oh, and if I wanted to give lessons, that had to be on my own time outside of my scheduled time in the pro shop. I decided I wanted to live a life outside of a pro shop so I broke into the 8-5 world. MUCH BETTER! I found a couple golf facilites that allow me to teach on the side. I like this gig a lot better. Sure there are high-paying gigs. But be prepared for long hours on your feet and very little playing time.

I would like to know as well. I am approaching 30 and realizing I might like to work in the Golf Industry....someday. But if I was you, I would look into entering a PGM program (Professional Golf Management) at a University. This would get you "in" to speak.
