Can medical assistants get a job as a vet assistant without having to go back to school or get another degree?
-
I graduated and I am a certified medical assistant. Would I have to take more classes, etc to work as a vet assistant?
-
Answer:
No medical assistants cannot get a job as a vet assistant without any training or experience working with animals. A vet assistant is very hands on with the animals. You need actual experience to get hired. Working with people and working with animals are two very different things.

I won't say you'd have to go back to school for it, per se. Just buy a review book, study it and take the test. I don't see why people waste all these money on for-profit schools, for jobs that pay absolutely nothing.
