Response rate from marketing by mail?

If I mail out marketing pieces, what is the average response percentage?

    There is no average response- there are simply too many variables. Here is how I advise my clients (yes I am in the direct mail business); - Calculate the "value" of a new client, in terms of gross profit - Determine how many new clients you need to justify the cost of the mailing - Simply ask yourself if that is a reasonable assumption For most businesses, a properly executed direct mail campaign is the most cost-effective advertising they will ever do.

I work in direct mail and the average response rate is 0.5% to 5%, depending on the offer and content

In UK, the average response is less than 4% ... Many people here are opposed to 'Junk Mail' and sign up to the 'do not post' MPS (Mailing Preference Service) .. If you still send to such people they are likely to respond by using your 'Reply Paid' envelopes to bombard you with 'excess weight' junk (such as charity shop books) or fill in the application forms with invalid details (in order to waste your time) etc.
