How do I change default font & size in email?

Cannot change default font and size setting. Previous answers say go to "Preferences" but this is not there.?

  If your questiion relates to Yahoo Mail, then the following write-up from the Help topics would be of use to you. "How do I change font sizes? Click the arrow in the font-size pull-down menu in your Compose window. It's just to the right of the pull-down menu where you select your font. 36-point is the largest font size you can select, and 8 is the smallest. If you don't see these pull-down menus, that's because font and size choices—along with other text-enhancement options—are only available in Rich Text mode, not in Plain Text. To select Rich Text, simply look to the right of the Subject: box on your Compose screen, and click the link that says Rich Text. You should see the pull-down menus for font and size, as well as B for bold, I for italics, U for underline…and many other fun and attractive options for sprucing up your email correspondence."
