Does anyone know how intense dental hygiene school is?

The program i was in was ridiculously intense. The dental assisting students didn't seem to be stressed out ever, while the hygiene students were crying daily. I am an above average student, who barely made it through. As for being rewarding... you make it as rewarding as you want. I've been working in private practise for 3 months now, and honestly... not very exciting. It's the people you don't see in a dental office that are rewarding to work on... not the people with regular care and healthy mouths.

Of course it takes a lot longer then assisting school does. It is more intense, you have to learn a lot more because you are actually a provider not just assisting. You have to learn a lot more anatomy and microbilology but it is very rewarding when you are done.

well, i'd do as much freshing up as possible from dental assisting and you should be alrt. it'll be a little harder because it's more...but i've heard not bad
