Is marketing a communication course?

What step must I take to kickstart my career right away? Will a certification such as a CCNA(CISCO Certification) fetch me a job right away? If yes, is NIIT any good to do this course from?

  • I am a Computer Science and Engineering graduate from "not so popular" college. I never really had much interest in this field but had to take it up for reasons I still don't understand. I struggled throughout those four years in college and scored an aggregate of 59.03% and yes that is just very bad. As I already had plans of doing an MBA in Media and Communication or Marketing, I wasn't worried. Now that after applying in different and really good business schools and literally putting one year after it, I have no result in hand and I am stuck. I see taking up a job as the only option right now. But, hey are there any jobs available for a fresher with no experience in the software industry? I do have an interest in the Networking subject and I do want to take up a CISCO certification in Networking (CCNA). Is NIIT highly overrated or is it any good to do this course from? Is a job assured on completion of a certification course from NIIT? Or are there any other better institutes that can help me ? Please suggest.

  • Answer:

If you want to kick start your career immediately then coaching, studying, certification exam, job hunting is not the right path. It is bound to take at least 3 months. A CCNA just gives you an edge over others, it does not certify you a job. A CCIE almost guarantees you a job, depending on which institute you choose. NIIT is costly, you can get almost the same quality at other institutes. A shorter path would be to learn to program online.  You can choose web development as your career path. It would not take more than a month or two to pick up HTML, Javascript, PHP etc. You can build a project which will help you get a internship or a job at a startup or one of the many smaller web development companies. You can then code your way to bigger companies as a UI developer etc. You could choose .NET or Java too. There is no certification that looks better on your resume than hands on experience. This path will help you gain real skills which you will use later, and costs nothing.

As others have said, which program you choose will really effect how quickly you can get a job but no matter what, there's going to need to be some training. CCNA has been really good for me, but there are so many other avenues that you can take. I know from experience that courses from pluralsight allow you to quickly learn material, but it'll still take time. I just finished CCNA and it only took me a few months. http://www.pluralsight.com/courses/cisco-ccna-security-intro

I can't say you'll fly immediately with the certification but nonetheless the certification will certainly boost your resume.... And NIIT's...... I wouldn't be so confident with NIIT ... Because they have something called a cloud campus... What happens is that you'll be receiving a stream from the servers available at their center and there will be like 60-70 students with you doing the same... Stay clear of that... You do not want that... Otherwise they are fine.... And mind you .. NIIT'S charge higher than normal for any course.... Now the cost of the exam is like 250$ so why take NIIT when you can get the same for much lesser... Also NIIT's don't offer any fastrack courses , so you have to stick to their schedule .... The faculties are otherwise skilled people over there... They know stuff..... My opinion ... Don't go for NIIT if don't need a placement.... If you absolutely need a job from the certification NIIT would be a good option.....otherwise no point

NIIT is good for nothing . They will just show you some dreams while joining . they don’t give good placements neither they are interested . They are just some dealer s who prepare IT Techs for Call Centers . If you are going to any NIIT Center just ask them to show you their past placements results . They will show you only few & If you will meet someone who have pursued their GNIIT Certification . They will give you their feedback in an (Un Parliamentary) language that I cannot explain here . Their cloud campus will just give you “Dukh K Badal” in your career . They just play with words & colourful propectus to grab you & clean your parents bank account . Its better you focus on clearing your basics in programming but please don’t go for NIIT . At the end thing that matters is KNOWLEDGE .Go for any private tutor or some institute that gives classes in small scale . Take admission in DOEACC & try to clear is O & A Level . Fees will be 90% less than fee of NIIT & this certification values much more than NIIT as it is Gov’t Certified .
