What is the most effective way to distribute an underground high school newspaper without getting caught?

  • I want to give out a tangible newspaper to people during school in some fashion that doesn't have me as a suspect. Ideas like strategic areas to keep them, a pyramid scheme of a distributors, etc are what I'm looking for.

    Web publishing.  Say Tumblr or something like that, with a very obscure name. Or private Facebook Group page. But, you want tangible paper.  Then I suggest printing out your news on ordinary 8.5x11 sheets and set the type so that they look approximately like a homework assignment.  Then tear each sheet in half (by hand) so they look like something not worth looking at.   Discarded.  Hand them out to the students that way.  Would that suit your purpose?  To an adult from a quick glance they will look like garbage.  It might generate more interest if each student only gets half and has to find someone else with the other half.

I put out an underground newspaper in College that had national distribution. Our critics were the local draft board, University administrators, University trustees, and local conservatives. The first issue of The Walrus had  a list of student spies and a diagram showing who they worked for. We openly attached our real names to the masthead and to all articles. No local printer would touch us so we had someone out of town do it, who handled deliveries as if it were bootleg scotch. There was no such thing as self-publishing. Insofar as you are not likely to be drafted and sent to Afghanistan if your authorship came out nor thrown out of school, just be up front about authorship. If you do get in trouble, call the ACLU. The real issue here is not getting caught, in the small pond you live in this is inevitable.The real issue is not making too much trouble for yourself and I think you are exaggerating the risk.
