Answer:
I use http://www.bigwords.com They are a textbook search engine that searches all the online textbook retailers (including amazon, half, ebay etc) and rental sites (including chegg, bookrenter etc) to find you the best prices. You can even use them at the end of the semester to search for resellers to sell your books to.

I suggest you to check out Amazon for your textbooks. I bought all my textbooks there every year, for both used and new textbooks. They often offer good discount. You may want to look for them early or there will be less and less choice for used books: http://www.amazon.com/gp/redirect.html?ie=UTF8&location=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.amazon.com%2FNew-Used-Textbooks-Books%2Fb%3Fie%3DUTF8%26node%3D465600%26ref%255F%3Damb%255Flink%255F84845751%255F1&tag=moreinfo-po-20&linkCode=ur2&camp=1789&creative=390957 Hope it helps :)

Don't freak out! You'll be fine, professors usually give you that first week to get it together. I recomend you rent your books. I use chegg.com. They ship fast, always have my books, and its CHEAP. You can save an extra 5% right now with this code: CC101135 . Also when you rent you don't have to worry about selling your books and with chegg if you decide to keep your book you can buy it from them. Good luck!!

check around your area, often there is a textbook store that competes with the college by selling textbooks cheaper, and if you can always buy used textbooks (if they are in good condition) because they will be cheaper.

Perhaps check your college's book store, if there is one available. Amazon.com is a popular choice for buying used and new textbooks for college and university, at reasonable prices, be sure to check it out. Also, you could try asking around, perhaps some students previously took the course you're looking for and are willing to sell their textbook.
amazon is the best, but bookbyte.com is good too
