What kind a schedule would a FULL-TIME college student vs. PART TIME college student?

what would be a sample schedule? Pros and Cons of being a full time college student
-
Answer:
It depends on the school, but almost it's pretty universal that 12 credits or more is considered full time, and anything under 12 is part time. Usually classes are 3 or 4 credits so a full time course load is about 4 classes. In my experience, the pros are that as a full time student, you'll stay covered under your parents' insurance, you'll get through school faster, and often you have to be a full time student to be able to live on campus (if you're going to a four year school). The cons would be that sometimes 4 or even 5 classes can be a lot, especially when you first start out. It can also be more expensive if your school charges per credit, but since you need a certain specified # of credits to graduate, you'll end up spending about the same amount of money anyway. I'd recommend taking a really honest look at what kind of student you are. If you know it takes you a little longer or you can't handle a lot of work each day, with tests and papers due constantly, try part time first. And if you're going to do full time, vary your classes (as in, don't take a bunch of really tough or writing intensive courses at once). My best advice as a student would be not to rush and don't pace yourself according to what everyone else is doing. I had to learn that the hard way. Try www.fastweb.com and www.princetonreview.com, you'll often find great tips, as well as college info and scholarships. A rough idea of my schedule my first semester at school was: College-Level Composition Writing Course - 3 credits 1 hr 15 minutes, twice a week Freshman Introduction Seminar (many schools don't require this but more and more are instituting mandatory freshman intro courses) - 1 credit 1 hr 15 minutes, once a week Western Civilization/World History Course - 3 credits Music Performance Class (required for my major) - 3 credits 1 hr 15 minutes, twice a week Theater Elective - 3 credits 1 hr 15 minutes, twice a week That may seem like a lot of time but only the Western Civ and Composition class were writing intenstive.

Full time - usually 4 subjects a semester. Part time - 2. Full time students can concentrate on studies but have no income. Part time the opposite. Thanks Bill
