USPS mailing question?

USPS Mailing System Question?

  • Answer:

Mail moves on Saturdays AND Sundays but not in all places. The USPS considers Saturday and Sunday to be a business days for purposes of its delivery standards. Internally a 3-day letter or package mailed on Friday and delivered on Tuesday will be considered a day late. The mail does move a little less efficiently on the weekend though so there is more late Tuesday mail than on any other day. Your regular carrier will almost always be who delivers the package. In some dense (downtown) areas there is someone else that delivers packages.

You know, sometimes Yahoo Answers isn't the best place to get information. Has it occurred to you to check THE USPS website for accurate information? MOST post offices are open from about 8 or 9 AM until 5 - 5:30 PM (some more right before Christmas) Monday through Friday, and 9 - 12 or 12:30 on Saturdays. Mail is moved on Saturdays, and delivered. Priority shipping is two-day delivery, excluding Sundays.
