At what age do you actually get a job as a surgeon?

  There is no way to condense med school and residency. You are being a surgeon in residency but depending on what year, you are under supervision. You need all that training to understand what you are doing. Being a surgeon will be a life long commitment to long hours and always keeping up on new techniques and procedures.
