Is an associates degree in nursing enough to be an RN?

Should I get a bachelors in nursing or become an esthetician and get an associates degree to become a RN derm?

  • Answer:

If you want to work at hospital, it's better take BSN than ADN, as a lot of hospital require their RN with BSN graduate. To earn a certification in dermatology, one must earn an RN degree, work for a minimum of two years in a dermatological setting, and receive 2,000 hours of clinical experience in dermatology in order to be eligible for the certification exam.

A general degree, a BSN, is necessary for what you seek. A 2 year nurse will always be too limited. If you wish to become a nurse anesthetist then a 4 year university degree would be required to enter that program. You will have another 3-4 years of full time study. It would be conceivable to make well above $100,000 per year in the USA, but you also must spend your life at work. You must live within 30 minutes of the hospital where you work. That means when you are called, you have to BE THERE in 30 minutes, not just leaving the house in 30 minutes.
