What causes dry eyes?

Vision (eyesight): What are the visualizations you see when you are in a dark room, when your eyes are closed, or when you put pressure on your eyelids? What causes them?

  • When you are in a dark room or your eyes are closed, there is visual "static" of sorts. Why? When you close your eyes and press gently on them, various visualizations move around in your sight. What causes all of these?
