  • Answer:

"So my state has a free online homeschooling site" Actually no your state does not. If it is free to the student and ran by the state, it is an online public school program. Homeschooling is different from public school at home programs. "my mom thinks l wouldnt get my diploma if l did this online school but lve asked the teachers on this site and they said you WOULD." Most (but not all) online public school programs issue diplomas. However a diploma isn't really important. Your transcripts are what is important. Even with homeschooling (not public school at home) the you can still get a pretty certificate(diploma) if you want one. You either order one or make it yourself. Like I said it isn't the diploma that matters.

95% homeschoolers go to college. only 30% of public school students go to college. I am home schooled, all i do is order the books, study on my own ( mom helps if i have trouble). Then at the end of the year, i take a test at home, then we mail it, and it gets graded. if i pass i move to then next grade. (you don't have to take the test at home. you can arrange to take it at a school with the other students.

I would go about it this way. I would say that your high school atmosphere is causing you to not be able to focus, and you are concerned your grades will start slipping. If this really is a problem, try to express to her that an in-home environment would alleviate the pressure and problems preventing you to do well. Assure her that you realize that being social is an important part of going to high school, but your school, in particular, is not helping you be social at all, and in reality, is doing the opposite. Try to be stern about the subject, but also respectful. Try to have a full conversation with her and have her explain to you why she does not want you to be home schooled. I had a hard time in high school too and ended up dropping out. Not because i didn't like school or learning, but because my school had a nasty atmosphere. Weapons, bullying, and nasty teachers. School is going to be the least of your problems in life, but if it is seriously preventing you from doing well, then there needs to be some kind of resolution.
