    Its usually around $8! Its not much and you do a lot more work than you anticipate for the money. You don't set up the lesson plans, the lead teacher will do that. Of course, you could be at a preschool that has no lead teacher in the classroom and then you would be in charge of it! Trust me, I was a lead teacher at KinderCare in Chicagoland!

I don't know what the Chicago wages are for a teaching assistant. I don't think you need to have a college degree to become one. They may want you to have some college, but all the teaching assistants that I have seen over time, didn't have a college degree. Here is wage information that I found on the provided web site: Teaching assistants are paid $1,000 to $1,200 and work 15 to 17 hours per week. This isn't to bad if the wage is right and the hours are right. All you have to work for a whole month is 60 hours. It equals to about $16 an hour. If you worked 40 hours a week; I doubt they would pay you $16 an hour because they couldn't afford it at 160 hours a month.

I think unless you are a TA in college, you are looking at low wages. It depends of what the qualifications are, if you don't have to have any special skills, the wages will be low.
