How to use RCA cables?

Can I use the RWY rca cables to just do audio?

  • If I have component cables hooked up for the video. Can I take a RWY (all 3) and just use the RW to do the audio? Or do I have to buy RW cables to do the audio?

  • Answer:

Use component for video = red, blue, and green. - You don't want or need composite video = yellow, so yes you can leave it unplugged. Right (right channel) and white (mono/left channel) is stereo audio. - If you only want stereo audio, then yes you can use these. S/pdif optical or s/pdif coaxial can do surround sound and stereo audio and is better than R/W stereo. Hdmi can do surround sound and stereo audio and is better than s/pdif optical and/or s/pdif coaxial.

It doesn't know that the video isn't connected anymore, because audio and video go through 2 seperate channels on the same channel if that makes sense. So you don't have to have the yellow one even connected to the other cords. As long as the red and white are there, it will work. You can also use only 1 cord (red or white) but that only gives you the left or right affects of the audio. So use both and it'll be good :)

Component video is 3wires only you might need separate audio cables for sound
