2008 Honda civic si aftermarket turbo problem?

Is it worth it to turbo a non SI 2008 honda civic?

  • I have a 2008 honda civic dx sedan. Is it worth it to turbo? or should i just get and Si to turbo? Thanks in advance for your help!

    sean has got a point, but set up properly a FWD turbo can be very quick, providing you aren't pushing 500bhp w/400 ft/lbs of torque or something silly... you can turbo both..but you will get better results from the Si, to do a proper job, ie. feul pumps, injectors, ECU mapping, BOV, intercooler, turbo, manifold, exhaust etc, it will cost 4 figures either on an Si or DX, but your money is better spent on an Si, not only do you get better power gains, the engine in the Si will handle the power better, aswell as the transmission and chassis, and the handling and braking will be better too, so if swapping your DX for a Si isn't out of the realm of possibility, then i would go for that, it may be more effort, but the money would be better spent...

Personally, the only honda worth turbocharging is the S2000, because it can actually use the power, because it's rear wheel drive. Turbocharging a front wheel drive is a waste of energy and money, as well as tires, because you can only get the front tires to do so much before they lose traction, and when you use them to both steer the car AND propel it, it's quite easy to overwhelm them, considering the weight transfers to the rear and off the drive wheels in a front wheel drive. Unless you live in a snowy climate, I would recommend buying a used S2000 if you care about the actual driving experience.
