What should I bring to college and what shouldn't I bring to college?

    Don't bring: Incense, candles, microwaves, hot plates, a telephone (use your cell phone) Bring: Flip flops for the shower, a shower caddy, 2 sets of sheets and 2 towels (so you can have one in the laundry and one you use), a laundry bag, a FAN, a lamp (so you can study when your roomie is sleeping and also b/c the overhead lighting is usually gross), clorox wipes for spills, cups/silverware (plastic is okay; if not plastic, bring dish soap and a sponge), febreeze (dorm rooms sometimes smell kind of gross), extra hangers, under the bed storage (this one's big--but make sure they're shallow--or wait til you get there to see how much room you have), an internet cord, a TV (if you can afford it), a power strip (so you have a bunch of extra outlets)

Check to see what your school will allow. Most wont allow candles, open coils, etc but some wont allow microwaves. What I have that I use the most: Microwave and Fridge (I think thats the most important to me!) TV/DVD player (I could live without the dvd player) Phone for the room Computer Fan/Heater (A lot of dorms don't let you control heat) Laundry Basket or bag Sheets, towels, pillows etc Hangers! A planner..you need one! Things you dont need: Well. I had a lamp, and people tell you to use them, but I didnt use mine. You should talk to your roomate, because, for instance there is not much of a use in having two TVs and two microwaves in a small room. One of you could bring one and vice versa. If you have your own bathroom, you'll probably need toilet paper too.
