What's Networking Engineering?

What I need to know about computer networking for my Google software engineering interview?

  • I've been working in Game Industry for several years as AI engineer and I'll have on-site interview with Google soon. I have never had networking class in College or never done anything about it in my professional life. So what are the things I MUST know about networking for the interview? Do you think, will I be asked specific network questions even though my area of expertise is irrelevant?

  • Answer:

Did you say you know networking? If you didn't, you probably won't get asked about it. BUT you should know that requests over the network are slow and expensive compared to local operations. Also see

If you put down that you know "Networking" on your resume, anything about "Networking" is fair game for the interviewer. This is why Google reminds you to be careful of what you put on your resume.
