What is the average cost of living in the UK, London in particular?

I'm thinking about working abroad in London, UK next year, but will the cost of living make me go broke?

    It's true that London is insanely expensive (especially if you are counting in Canadian dollars!!), but it's also an amazing place to experience. When you're here, it really does feel like the center of the universe sometimes. There are people from absolutely everywhere in the world, and there is always a play, a concert, an exhibition, a course, a party going on somewhere. You will likely have to share a flat with 2 or 3 other people, and you probably won't be able to put much money aside, but if you work full time, you'll get by. So if it's an experience you're after (rather then saving money), London might be a great place to spend a year or two. Also- I have found that something that offsets the high cost of living, is how easy it is to find a job here! If you have a work permit, all you have to do is show up at one of the (many) employment agencies in town, and they'll hook you up within a few days. At least that has been my experience. There are a lot of specialized agencies (for engineers, teachers, nurses, etc.), but also a lot of general office work agencies. Good luck, and have fun! xx Kelly.

the wages are higher than the rest of the uk here, but i think you'll be fine. like 9 million others get by just fine. i think if you flatshare or live in a small home and you will be totally fine. the men here are hot too

I used to live in London and now I avoid it at all costs. It is OUTRAGEOUSLY expensive,over populated and often grubby. If you get a job there you will be paid a salary that takes all that into account. Even so, don't expect to living like a queen. !! You could always live on Big Macs for a year !!! (but they are cr*p in England !)

London is one of the most expensive places on earth to live. Accommodation is a great problem for most .But then again you seem to have a University diploma and if you find the right work , you should be alright.
