Is it necessary to germinate all types of seeds before planting them?

    Very few seeds need anything done to them prior to planting. There are a few that soaking helps and a few that need the seed nicked(usually a file) prior to planting. It will tell you on the seed package if there is anything special you have to do to the seeds prior to planting, if it do sent give anything special just plant they

No, nature germinates seeds by natural means anyway -- water, heat, and of course and above all contact with the soils itself. Germination as you address is solely to obtain some affect -- such as speed, or some especial characteristic is sought, or the native conditions a seed is otherwise availed are not present or evident.

are you asking if you should soak your seeds in water before planting them? if so, you only need to do this if the seed has a hard shell. the only one i have ever done this with is morning glories. i have also grown them without soaking them. couldnt tell much of a difference. personally, i wouldnt bother.
