  It depends on which type of environment you would want to work with more. These are both very lucrative fields, and would be very good paying jobs. A sonographer works more in a hospital setting on one patient at a time, and will see a variety of cases such as cellulitis, thyroid problems, heart problems etc., and might need to be able to diagnose them accurately. A dental hygeniest primarily works with one patient in a dentist's office, and work in the mouth. This can be in a very confined space, and you have to be able to work in a very small spot.
