How do I treat a second-degree burn?

How to treat second degree burn. HELP NOW.?

  • How do I treat my minor second degree burn? I have ran cold water over it, which turned warm. Now. I do not have a cloth or sterile gauze. http://i52.tinypic.com/r7nk94.jpg ...show more

  • Answer:

DO NOT USE ICE or milk like these people said! Ice will compound the problem by causing frostbite. You are doing everything like you should- run tepid (room temperature) water over it for as long as you want (you can use a clean wet cloth if you want). If a blister forms, don't pop it, because it just opens you up to infection. DO NOT put any ointments or anything on it since they just hold the heat in and make the burn deeper. You really don't need to cover it unless it blisters & they open up- then use a bandaid. Hope this helps!

If you have milk around just soak something in it and wrap it around your arm. sounds weired but it works.
