My dad just told me he doesn't have enough money for pay for tuition this semester. What are my options? (Other than transferring to a community or state college)

I'm in my last year of college, and I want to stay and finish to get my degree, if that's possible. I'm worried, for now, and any advice coming my way would be appreciated.

Answer:
Go to the financial aid office of your school and ask about Stafford loans. You can also find out if you qualify for any scholarships at the financial aid office as well.

If your dad has been paying for your entire education up until now, it sounds like you don't have any debts! That's great! Taking on loans for less than 1/4 of your education is very reasonable. Note that you don't necessarily need "student loans" to pay for college -- you can use any type of loan that gives you a good deal. The main difference with student loans is that you don't have to start repaying until you're out of college. But since you graduate pretty soon anyway, that's not a big difference. Here's one alternative to traditional student loans: https://www.upstart.com/ Also, don't forget to thank your dad for paying for 75+% of your education!

Use crowdfunding sites to raise money. Take a semester off? See what ways you can save money (Living off campus, getting off the meal plan, working on campus, getting a part time job, renting textbooks or borrowing them from the library instead of buying them).

If you are so committed about it then there is a way... very different but practical. You can ask for charity for this purpose, or if you are feeling offended tell those people that you will repay them as soon as you start earning. Make a record of the amount. Initially if feels a bit different. But see the positive side all purposes are solved, you will get money from those who already have it, the people who lend the money will get it back. And yes asking your college for consideration is always the first best option. I think s your motive is pure and good people will understand. Even if you could not be able to get success, please do not get disheartened (i know it is tough) but then earn and go for studies again, as after 10 years when you will be successful no one will even think of these two years. Always remember it us who makes others feel what we are. So be confident even if you are asking for anything this will comes because and only because you have a notion of giving it back (as confidence of earning it back is already in it). But do not compromise your career because of this small problem. Another suggestion may be of part time jobs. If possible
