What do you think about alcohol advertising?

What do you think of the UK ban on tobacco advertising? Should adverts for alcohol etc also be banned?

    personally, i think the ban on tobacco and alcohol is a good thing if it was done right; that means not allowing tobacco and alcohol brands giving away mugs, lighters, glasses, t-shirt, offering to buy you drink at a bar or any kind of promotion, even if it for legal age. Yet, in the other hand i think i will really miss beer TV beer ads

The ban in the US on tobacco advertising on TV has reduced the number and % of new smokers and we all know new smokers tend to be children and teens. The less heard about the positives of alcohol the better. Did you ever look around the pubs and tappys? Nothing but ugly drunks with big reds veins in their noses. Is that who they depict drinking on the telly? No it is the beautiful blond with the flat stomach not the old hag with the pot belly who smells like a bag of dog doo left in a hot phone booth ... and not enough teeth to warrant buying a brush for them. If they advertise the real wonders of alcohol, it wouldn't be the smart set with the cocktail, it would be Jonny and his boys, loud and profane, dirty and looking decades older than they are at the tappy spending the rent check on a pitcher of bitters.

There's been a ban on tobacco advertising in the United States for quite a while. Alcohol is still advertised. That's all I have to say.
