Each country has a League and at the end of each league the top teams will go to the champions and the following will go to the Europa League. How many teams per country qualify varies between each country. There is also a qualifying round before the champions begins. If u quaify then...u qualify. If not u go to the europa league. And there is also a qualifying round to enter the europa league Ex: In spain the first 3 teams qualify directly and the 4th goes to the qualifying round. then the 5th and 6th place go to the europa league. Last year in spain: 1st- barcelona - directly qualifies to champions 1st round 2nd- real madrid - directly qualifies to champions 1st round 3rd- valencia - directly qualifies to champions 1st round (didnt qualify so went to europa league 4th- sevilla - goes to qualifying round of champions 5th- mallorca - goes to 1st round of europa 6th- getafe - goes ot europa qualifying Also, u go to erupoa league round of 16 if u end up in 3rd place of ur group U will not see very famous teams in the europa league, because they r ussually the middle table guys. Average teams not good not bad. Also, some small countries (footballistically) don't have a direct pick to the Cjhamions league. If not they have to go to the qualifyin round of the championjs. If they loose then they go to the europa league

For UEFA Champions League - Teams that finish 1st, 2nd and 3rd in EPL (England) Automatically qualify, while the 4th place team goes to a playoff to determine qualification or not. 1st 2nd and 3rd Teams in La Liga (Spain) automatically qualify for the Champions League Group Stages. 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams in Italy, 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams in France, 1st, 2nd and 3rd teams in Germany. While in Holland and Portugal, its only the 1st and 2nd placed teams that qualify for the Champions League. In all the other leagues, its the 1st place finished team that qualifies for the Champions League. While in the UEFA Europa League, Usually the 5th, 6th and 7th place teams in England qualify, if the 4th place English team fails to qualify for Champions League, then they will play automatically in the UEFA Europa League. While, 4th, 5th and 6th teams in Spain,Italy,Germany, and France qualify. The 3rd and 4th placed teams in Portugal and Holland qualify. While in all the other Leagues across Europe, usually the 2nd placed team qualifies, although there have been times where 3rd placed teams have also qualified (depending on the situation) Hope this helps you, I answered it as detailed as possible as to help you get your answer.
