    a GED is not equivalent to a high school diploma and employers do not have to accept it as a legal document for completion of high school. In CA they have what is called a CHSPE (CA high school proficiency exam) it is legal equivalent to a diploma. You might want to do some research and see if NY has an exam similar to this. But this does not explain why you have to graduate early. Unless there are serious underlying issues, continue the home schooling, enjoy your teen years and explore possibilities for the future. Look into community programs that interset you, and as a home schooler you can sometimes still take classes at the local community college while still in high school.

"The reason why I need to take the GED is because I am home schooled and I want a REAL diploma." The GED isn't a diploma. It is an equivalency test for drop-outs. Homeschooling is a legal and valid form of education, there is no reason to take the GED. I am assuming you are not homeschooling through any type of program that issues a diploma. As an independent homeschooler your transcripts and diploma are issued by your parents. You graduate by completing a typical high school course of study.

Where I live you have to be atleast 16. But, you may want to try online school/homeschooling. I am currently taking classes at virtualedu.org. Once you have reached all of the requirements they will give you a high school diploma and not a GED. Here is the website : virtualedu.org.
